It would be hard to overstate how important meaningful work is to human beings — work that provides sense of fulfillment and empowerment. A number of research studies have shown how experts in a field often experience difficulties when introducing newcomers to that field. For example, in a genuine training situation, Dr Pamela Hinds found that people expert in using mobile phones were remarkably less accurate than novice phone users in judging how long it takes people to learn to use the phones. Experts can become insensitive to how hard a task is for the beginner, an effect referred to as the ‘curse of knowledge’. Dr Hinds was able to show that as people acquired the skill, they then began to underestimate the level of difficulty of that skill. Her participants even underestimated how long it had taken themselves to acquire that skill in an earlier session. Knowing that experts forget how hard it was for them to learn, we can understand the need to look at the learning process through students’ eyes, rather than making assumptions about how students‘should be’ learning.

* 금옥여고는 1학년 1학기 중간고사는 선택형 75점 / 서답형 25점으로 구성되어 있으며 교과서 1~2과 그리고 모의고사 지문 18개중 16개가 출제되었습니다. 1등급을 좌우하는 문제는 주로 서답형 4번과 5번에서 다음과 같이 출제되었음을 알 수 있습니다. 단순히 문장을 외우고 이해한다고 위의 킬러문항들을 맞힐 수는 없습니다. 이를 풀기 위해서는 요약문 연습, 구조 배열 연습 등과 같은 서술형 대비 전문 수업이 필요합니다.
