September is the midterm exam preparation time for most schools. Many students try their best to do on their exams, but preparing for examinations is a stressful thing for students, including me. Today, I’d like to share some helpful methods I use to prepare for tests.
Choosing what to study
There are about eight to ten subjects that students have to study for an examination. It is tough to study them all sufficiently since time is limited. In that case, for high efficiency, you should choose what to study first and more. For instance, I begin to study Korean, math, and science early, about 3 weeks before the examination, because they require more practice and understanding of key principles, which might take time. On the other hand, I study subjects like art and music one week before the test, since they require accurate memorization. Determining significance among many subjects is important in studying.
No smartphones, lots of concentration
I sometimes spend my whole weekend just chatting with my friends on by Kakaotalk or checking social networking services such as Kakaostory. In this way, your smartphones are a big obstacle in doing work, including studying. The best solution to this would be giving phones to your parents or teachers during the examination periods, but if that is too much for you, you can lock the applications you use during the examination period. In my case, my parents lock my Kakaotalk and Kakaostory so that I cannot use them. Remember, not having a smartphone can help you greatly to concentrate on your studies.
I sometimes fall into a slump while preparing for my examinations, feeling stressed and gloomy. If you feel anxious or tired while studying for an examination, do not feel nervous. This examination is just one test among many that you will be taking. Spend some time listening to music and find a way to relax. Just keep in mind that you are the one deciding your grades.
